We’ve been having some good weather in the last week or two – it’s actually been feeling like summer here in London! The sun always puts us in a good mood, as there is always something going on. Whether you’re spending time with friends, or sitting around in your garden – you’ll want to listen to some of best summer tunes to really make you get the summer feeling!

Have you got a BBQ organised soon? Or are you off on holiday and wanting to fill up your phone with all the best songs? We’ve put together an ultimate playlist which includes all the very best of summer anthems from past and present.

Beach Boys – Surfin’ U.S.A (1963)

Love or hate this song – it’s a classic summer anthem! The song, which has been voted the number one summer songs in several different polls throughout the year, is all about embracing summer as a lifestyle. Not only does the tune get you excited for the summer, the lyrics and subject matter are all summer related and therefore best represent our favourite season.

Has there ever been a better song to listen to whilst firing up the BBQ or enjoying sunbathing on a sandy beach in a sunny location?

Rihanna Feat. Jay-Z – Umbrella (March 2009)

There was no getting away from this song from Rihanna back in 2009, as it sat on the top of the UK official charts for around 10 weeks. The lyrics which mention rain quite a lot – seemed rather appropriate for the summer that we had that year, which saw UK flooded with heavy rainfall all the way through the summer months. Some people actually blamed Rihanna for the bad weather, due to her chart position throughout.

Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling (June 2009)

Anyone who went on holiday in 2009 will remember the fact that this was played in every pub, bar or club that you went into. Several times. In fact, it was played everywhere you went back in the UK too. The song was a hit for the Black Eyed Peas and was produced by French DJ David Guetta – who was responsible for several top hits that year.

It might not have been everyone’s cup of tea, but you can’t deny that it didn’t get stuck in your head wherever you went! It had a catchy song, and was perfect for bouncing to whilst out in a club.

Jess Glynne – Hold My Hand (March 2015)

Released back in March, this song is guaranteed to be a massive hit at all the festivals this summer. It was her third solo single, and went straight to number one on the UK chart – where it stayed for three weeks.

It’s extremely catchy, which seems to be the number one ingredient for songs that make brilliant summer anthems. It’s an uplifting song that we can easily see people listening to throughout the warm summer evenings!
