Music of the 2015 Summer Festivals

Some of you may be planning on heading to a music festival this summer, and who could blame you? What’s not to love? With some fantastic line ups already announced and some wild rumours flying around about other line ups, now is the time to start making the tough decision of which fest(s) to choose for your summer 2015.

Reading & Leeds Festival – UK, 28th – 30th August

Some of the bigger names already announced include Metallica, Mumford & Sons, Bastille and Deadmau5. We all know that Reading and Leeds manage to secure some of the really huge artists, so you can expect to see plenty more chart topping names added to the line up soon!

DON’T MISS: We’ve already mentioned them in a previous blog, so you should be pretty familiar with them by now! Winners of BBC Sound of 2015, Years and Years have been confirmed, so make sure to check them out and see what all the fuss is about!

Download Festival – Donnington, 12th – 14th June

For those of you with a taste for rock, the Download festival is pretty much everything you ever dreamed of. Never failing to disappoint, organizers have secured some of the biggest names in rock including Slipknot, Motley Crue, Slash and the legendary Kiss.

DON’T MISS: Dubbed as one of the greatest performers, you absolutely cannot miss Muse who are billed as the Saturday headliners. Whether you’re a massive fan of their music or not, you’re sure to be in for a great show from this band.

Truck – Oxford, 17th – 18th July

This relatively small festival has been steadily growing since its beginnings way back in 1998, and this year looks set to be an absolute corker! The full line up hasn’t been released yet, but names that are confirmed to be playing include Basement Jaxx, Pulled Apart by Horses and Saint Raymond.

DON’T MISS: Another act previously mentioned in one of our blogs – Rae Morris is set for big things this year, and she’s a great artist who manages to sound as great live as she does on record.

Bestival – Isle of Wight, 10th – 13th September

Bestival is set for another year of fantastic music that you would be a fool to miss. They have already announced acts such as The Chemical Brothers, Underworld and Annie Mac to name but a few!

DON’T MISS: You really don’t want to miss watching the great Duran Duran who are bound to transport you back to the 80s with their performance.

Kendal Calling – Kendal, 30th July – 2nd August

This is another growing festival that just keeps getting bigger and better, and this year, they have quite the line up! Some of the announced headliners include Snoop Dogg, Kaiser Chiefs and The Vaccines so this may be one of the ‘smaller’ festivals you should check out this year.

DON’T MISS: If you can get over the fact that Snoop Dogg is making an appearance in the Lake District, make sure you check out Elbow. These guys know how to put on a show, and with crowd-pleasing songs like One Day Like This, there should be an incredible atmosphere in the crowds.

Glastonbury – Somerset, 24th – 28th June

No festival line up list would be complete without a mention of Glastonbury. Sadly, we’re still awaiting the confirmed line up, but there are some pretty strong rumours flying around. Some of the more likely rumours include Foo Fighters and Coldplay, while acts such as Pharrell Williams, Taylor Swift and AC/DC are also thought to be performing.

Here at Soho Sonic, we have a whole lotta love for live music, and we’re pretty excited about the music being performed up and down the country this year.
