What Do You Listen to Whilst You Exercise? The Ultimate Workout Playlist to Keep You Motivated (Part 1)

Choosing the right music to listen to whilst you exercise could be the difference between a good workout and a great workout. There is a reason why you see so many people with headphones on whilst they exercise – music is a fantastic motivator.

Studies have shown that listening to the right type of music as you break a sweat in the gym (or wherever you work out), can actually stimulate your nervous system and increase adrenaline.

Of course, it’s no use listening to sad and/or slow songs or ballads – you need songs with fast rhythms that will wake you up instead of sending you to sleep.

Here is our top pick of songs we love to workout to.

Taylor Swift – Shake It Off

We think that this is the perfect song for when you’re out running or participating in an aerobics class. It has 160 beats per minute, making it the go to song when you jump onto the treadmill for a hard hitting cardio workout. Plus – it’s all about shaking off your long day!

Daft Punk – Get Lucky

This sound includes some incredible guitar riffs and beats, so we think it’s definitely once to stick on when exercising.

This song is better when doing some strength training, such as working on your glutes, thighs and calves. If you’re more into cardio, we suggest using it as  warm up song.

Guns N’ Roses – Welcome to the Jungle

Just imagine that the gym is your jungle okay? This is definitely one for the men and women who like to lift weights. Listening to the vocals of these guys will have you repping like you’ve never repped before. This is not for the faint hearted – it’s a hardcore song for hardcore gym goers.

Survivor – Eye of The Tiger

Would any workout playlist be complete without including survivor’s classic ‘Eye of the Tiger?’

It’s impossible to listen to this song without moving. Whether it’s nodding your head or tapping your feet – it makes people want to get up and dance. We suggest using this energy in the gym instead – it’s definitely a song for when you’ve still got plenty of energy.

We hope that this playlist is enough to keep you motivated until we give you part two – keep checking back!
